The person and number of a verb tell the perspective of the speaker(s) and how many people are speaking. Why are these grouped together? Because, within each conjugation and tense, each verb has a unique ending for each combination of person and number.

- 1st person - spoken by the person doing the action described by the verb
- ex: I am going to the store.
- 2nd person - spoken by someone speaking to the person doing the action described by the verb
- ex: You lied to me!
- 3rd person - spoking by a person talking about the action
- ex: He is changing schools at the end of this year.
And just like a noun, a verb can either be:
- singular - done by only one person or thing
- ex: The zebra went to the watering hole.
- plural - done by more than one person or thing
- The zebras went to the watering hole.
